Cashbox Magazine Canada’s review of “Small Town Stories!”

“They say good things come in small packages so ‘Small Town Stories’, part of the EP from the beautiful Kennedy twins, is no exception.

These native BC beauties have it all; talent, charisma and good solid songs. Carli reminds me of Nancy Wilson (Heart) with her solid rhythms on guitar and gutsy solos. Julie charms the sweet sounds out of her violin, and together their vocal harmonies bring it all home.” (Sandy Graham, Cashbox Magazine Canada)

“Cashbox Canada kicked off March Music Madness with a great night of live performances at Toronto’s Orbit Room.”

“Sweetheart identical twins, Carli and Julie Kennedy were nothing short of awesome. How two, petite and pretty entertainers can play with such gusto and speed is something to see…Classical training seeping into the mix gave the traditional country fiddle vs. guitar face-off something special that got the crowd cheering.

Cashbox Canada kicked of March Music Madness on Wednesday, March 21st with a great night of live performances at Toronto’s Orbit Room. The event was produced by Irene Carroll of ISEE and Kit Watson of RockitGirl Media, and a fine job these two whirlwinds of promotion did to make the live music showcase a huge success. The acts reflected the diversity of Canadian music with Country crooner, Punk girl, and Folk/Rock cuties, and somehow it all made sense.”

“The Orbit Room was Toronto’s Best Kept Secret Wednesday Night (March 21st)”

“With Carli on vocals and guitar and Julie on vocals and violin they shattered a twin good-girl image in a matter of seconds. These two are true pioneers in the folk, jazz and Celtic genres. Carli is bouncy and effortless on her acoustic while Julie works the fiddle like Jimmy Hendrix on an electric guitar.

Seeing the line-up for the first time, the artists on the docket seemed to have very little in common and perhaps stylistically that is true. As the night went on however, their close interaction with each other and the audience proved this gathering to be a perfect meld of creativity, artistry and togetherness.”

Direct From Nashville…

We have arrived home from our second visit to Nashville, TN – it was a fabulous trip! We spent three busy weeks working with some AMAZING songwriters and performing all over the city. Highlights included…

Our showcase as the SOCAN Artist of the Month on the Billy Block Show - we had the privilege of representing SOCAN and performing with two members of Terri Clark’s band, Clay Krasner on bass and Jason Cheek on drums. It was a great night! (Thanks to RyLee Madison for taking photos!)

Performing on the Douglas Corner stage – we were one of six artists featured at the Acoustic Performance Night sponsored by Nashville Music Guide!

Returning to the beautiful Franklin, TN home of Terry and Wanda Seay to perform as the “Special Guests” at their It’s All About Z Music House Concert! Check out a great review of the concert by Holly Tong of the Nashville Local Music Examiner here:

Going to our very first Vancouver Canucks game (vs. the Nashville Predators at the Bridgestone Arena)! We like to think that our enthusiastic cheering helped them with their 4-3 win in shootouts!

We returned home to Victoria for our “Direct From Nashville” homecoming concert on February 18th. Thanks so much to Gordon Head United Church for hosting us, Peter Rothhauser for helping to produce the concert and being an amazing sound guy, Ross Macdonald for his incredible bass skills, and everyone who came out! We had a great night!
